Behold! The Mighty Land Rover

When you talk about driving off-road, there is only one name that comes to mind right? Land Rover! It is common knowledge that the entire Land Rover range simply out class anything else when it comes to a mixture of motorway driving and uneven terrain. They are not advertised in the UK as “The Best 4 x 4 x Far” for nothing!

When you talk about the toughest off-road challenge in the world, there is a very good reason it is not called the Mitsubishi G4 Challenge, or the Toyota G4 Challenge. No other range of vehicles on the planet can compare to the Land Rover for all round, all terrain ability.

From the classic Series I Land Rover, The hugely popular Discovery or the impressive Range Rover Sport. They stay at the top of the automotive food chain because they are great on AND off road.

There are faster, more powerful 4×4′s on the market like the Porsche Cayenne and the Mercedes ML. There are also vehicles purely designed for use off-road like the Humvee or the UniMog. But as stated before, none of these vehicles can compete realistically on both tarmac AND dirt with the Land Rover.

This has been at the heart of Land Rover’s design methods since the very first vehicle to rolled off the production line in 1948.

Let us not laugh too heartily at all the pretenders to Land Rovers crown though, most of the vehicles mentioned here do what they were designed to do very well. whether they are built for speed on the motorways, or rugged reliability over rough terrain, their down side is just that. They have been designed very well to do one or the other but not both.

The truth is, if you want a vehicle that performs well on the tarmac and handles splendidly off-road then there is only one realistic option. Need I say it again?

Land Rover “The Best 4 x 4 x Far”.
