We all know to well that America has an addiction for our thirst of Gasoline. We also know it takes months to re-tool even our most advanced robotic factories. Changing from gasoline to alternative fuels is more than just a goal; it is a necessity. Many believe that it is not possible for America to rapidly change from our dependence on Foreign Oil; these political consultants say it cannot be done on any quick time table. But it can be done. How so you ask?
I propose we use the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) model, where people can by conversion kits for their current cars. You see in General Aviation it just got to be to expensive to buy private aircraft due to the “Finished Products Liability Insurance†due to incessant lawsuits. The EAA model allowed those who build their own aircraft or modified them to assume the risk and be put into a separate category.
If we reduce legal liability from lawsuits for car owners and entrepreneurs and allow them to apply for an “Experimental Car†status, they can buy kits, which will take their existing cars and convert them to run on Ethanol from corn, soybean or grass, Bio Diesel and/or flex fuels. Additionally folks can buy kit cars or components from the huge array of SEMA member automotive after market entrepreneurial companies. You will see an entire new market open up in a race for better battery technologies, more efficient aerodynamic designs, lighter and stronger materials and hybrid cars that no one has even considered.
