If we are really concerned about the future water crisis in the world then we should put our money where our mouth is and be smart about using all the water wisely. Now then in considering this important truth and knowing of the lack of water supplies currently in Australia, Middle East, Africa and other regions, wouldn’t it be wise to use the rain water which down pours, collect it and use it to wash cars in car washes too? Is anyone already doing this asks one thinker, Paula Chavis in an online think tank.
You see Paula is studying the efficiencies of business and writing for a marketing class in Business Management. She also states that; “If something like this already exists, I will be back to the drawing board.”
Well Paula is in luck indeed, as to my knowledge many carwashes now have completely closed looped systems and reuse and recycle the water over and over again. But using rainwater, run-off and drippings from the car its self after it has left the tunnel does not seem to be being done, but as she rightfully surmises, should be.
Now then just because I have not seen it does not mean someone is not collecting rainwater to wash cars, as I am sure someone somewhere is doing something like this perhaps in an area of high precipitation like Washington State or Oregon from a coin-op car wash. The entire property drains to the center along with all the wash wastewater and is re-used and sent to storage tanks. It is a totally bitchen idea, in fact if someone were to collect all water on the property, including wash water and funnel it into a closed loop system then well? The carwash would not need to hook up to city water supplies at all? Nor would it pollute with waste wash water run off. Brilliant work Paula; smart thinking indeed.
