Winter holiday are of course the time for family and certainly the last thing on our minds is insurance. The problem is that during the winter months and these happy holidays home and auto insurance claims are the highest, so actually it is a time to consider your insurance. Before you begin, prepare for the holidays, you should ensure that you have adequate insurance.
Car Insurance
Winter months bring ice and snow, which increase the chances of a car accident. By statistics in Canada in 1999, the first snowfall can be one of the worst times for many car accidents. You should pay close attention while driving on slippery roads, snow packed roads, and icy roads. Not only should you watch yourself and the other drivers on the road, but also you should have safety equipment in your vehicle just in case you find yourself stuck in a snow bank.
Home Insurance
During the holidays, many of us travel. This leaves our home to fend for itself against the weather and burglaries. If you are going out of time, it is a good idea to ask a neighbor or friend to check in on your home.
Not only is our home in danger while we are away but also while we are at home. During the holiday season and winter months, we use our fireplaces, candles, and of course Christmas lighting. All of these can cause fires to blaze out of control. Watch your fireplace and do not go to bed with a lit fire, place candles away from drapes and furnishings, when hanging Christmas look for frayed or damaged wiring.
Life Insurance
This is a great time to thing about your family's financial protection and ensure that if something happens to you they will not be put in a dire situation. You may wish to add more life insurance to provide more than what your employer offers in coverage.
We want you to be safe and enjoy your holidays.
