Mille magic: Notes from the hot seat of a Jaguar C-type on the 2007 Mille Miglia vintage rally.

Fifty years ago, Spanish nobleman Marquis Alfonso de Portago blew a tire on his Ferrari 335S sports car near Mantova in northern Italy on the last leg of the grueling Mille Miglia (1000 miles) road race that ran from Brescia to Rome and back again. De Portago, his co-driver Ed Nelson, and 11 spectators were killed. The crash signaled the end of a race that had been run since 1927. (more…)
