In case the F430 wasn’t fast (or good) enough.
The great thing about the 430 Scuderia”a faster, lighter, and even more compelling version of the F430”is that Ferrari didn’t have to make it. Automakers create new versions of their existing models to stimulate sales, but with North American waiting lists at two years for the F430, Ferrari didn’t need to drum up showroom traffic.
Ferrari people say the primary reason for building the Scuderia is that it showcases the company’s racing technology in a street car. Another reason is that, historically, Ferrari has built more extreme versions of its entry-level sports car, going back to the F355 Challenge in 1995. And Lamborghini, its northern-Italian rival, has just introduced the Gallardo Superleggera, while Porsche, its perennial competitor, is continually making go-faster versions of the 911. (more…)

A quicker F430 to tide us over until the next-gen F430.
It’s no secret that we like Ferrari’s F430”in three comparos, it has won three times”so when Ferrari confirmed a newer, lighter version, we got very excited indeed, as this is in fact the replacement for what we thought would be called the Challenge Stradale. As we cool our heels awaiting the eventual F430 replacement, a lightweight F430 sounds just fine. (more…)

The manual diligently advises drivers to avoid sharp and frequent accelerations and to upshift at only 2/3rds of the speed permitted for each gear or, say, a modest 114 mph in fifth. (more…)

The 2006 Ferrari F430 is a 2-door, 2-passenger luxury sports car, or convertible sports car, available in two trims, the Coupe and the Spider.
Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 4.3-liter, V8, 490-horsepower engine that achieves 11-mpg in the city and 16-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.
The 2006 Ferrari F430 is a carryover from 2005.
