Hard to believe it’s a Porsche, Hard to believe it’s a sport-ute.

The Cayenne has always seemed an anomaly. On one hand, it has generated the cash that allows Porsche to continue building the sports cars we love, which is a good thing. 2009 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid

Porsche’s upcoming hybrid ute will deliver more than 400 pound-feet of torque.

Two years ago at the Frankfurt auto show, Porsche announced it had begun work on a hybrid Cayenne program, but the company has remained quiet since then, except to tell us it has remained partnered with VW on the SUV’s development. However, Porsche recently broke its silence and gave us a few more details about what we can expect from its new hybrid SUV, which is on track for a 2009 launch. (more…)

2006 Porsche Cayenne


The 2006 Porsche Cayenne is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury sport-utility, available in 5 trims, ranging from the Base to the Turbo S.

Upon introduction, the Base is equipped with a standard 3.2-liter, V6, 247-horsepower engine that achieves 15-mpg in the city and 20-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The Turbo S is equipped with a standard 4.5-liter, V8, 520-horsepower, turbo engine. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.
