Day 2 Second and First Place: Extremists
2008 Porsche 911 GT2
Second Place: Extremists
Check it out: Black leather, red seatbelts, splashes of fuzzy Alcantara, deep-scallop buckets in glossy carbon-fiber shells, fish-gill vents, and flaring air snorkels on the wing posts. The GT2’s visual cues mix the subtle with the animal. (more…)

It’s man against motherboard in this four-way flog of max-horsepower machines.
Behold four machines sitting on the pointy end of a horsepower skyrocket that lifted off sometime in the 1980s and hasn’t hit the chutes yet.
For now, anyone can buy these vehicles by flashing a valid driver’s license and a healthy checkbook. But this may be it. The last act. The apogee right before reentry, when post-peak oil prices and carbon-emissions limits and general economic malaise threaten to make memories out of 500-horsepower cars. Maybe someday you’ll bore grandchildren with tales of Porsche GT2s practically falling out of trees for just $198,875. Is it 1971 all over again? Who knows? Maybe you’ll be telling them from the back seat of their parents’ 700-hp minivan. (more…)

Suzuki to get pickup based on the Frontier.
At the risk of stating the obvious, Nissan finally confirms the pickup it will build for Suzuki is based on the Nissan Frontier and will be assembled at its plant in Smyrna, Tennessee, starting in 2008.
The two automakers reached an agreement in 2006 for Nissan to build a mid-size pickup for Suzuki to sell in North America as well as a version of the Nissan Serena mini-minivan for sale in Japan. In return, Suzuki was to produce a Nissan mini-vehicle for Japan and a new A-segment car for Europe. (more…)

Does Nissan need a Miata fighter?
Nissan is trying to figure out if there is room in the market for an entry-level sports car that is smaller, more lightweight, and more affordable than the 350Z.
The Japanese automaker is interested in a front-wheel-drive sports car that could compete with the Mazda MX-5 Miata, Pontiac Solstice, and Saturn Sky, Nissan North America vice-president in charge of product planning and strategy Larry Dominique tells Car and Driver in an interview. (more…)

A next-generation Quest for North America is likely, but the styling will be very different.
As Chrysler prepares to try to shake up the minivan segment with a new generation of its people-mover coming in September, and with Ford and General Motors exiting the market, Nissan is prepared to ante up for a few more hands. (more…)

The Nissan Pathfinder is a relatively new sport utility vehicle, but it has made its mark on the industry quite clearly from the very beginning. Despite all of the competition in the SUV ranks, the Nissan Pathfinder holds its own without much of a fuss. Going up against the big boys from Toyota and Honda does not seem to bother this SUV.
From the outside, the Nissan Pathfinder appears very large; because it is. But just because the Nissan Pathfinder is a big car does not mean that it is hard to handle on the road. In fact, it is quite maneuverable for a car its size. And if you decide to take your Nissan Pathfinder off road you will notice the same thing; the car is not difficult to get around in.
Inside, the Nissan Pathfinder can easily fit five people. But for the most comfort you will want to be in the driver’s seat. It is here where you can get a commanding feel for the road, while also being as comfortable as ever. Appointing the Nissan Pathfinder with leather seats only makes the experience that much better.
The main downfall of the Nissan Pathfinder is its dismal gas mileage. But this is to be expected with any SUV that is of this size.
As the Nissan Pathfinder matures, it is only going to get better. With each new model year the engineers at Nissan find a way to take this car to the next level. One can only wonder what is in store for the Pathfinder next.

Searching for a big truck that is going to meet all of your needs can sometimes be a difficult task. The fact of the matter is that there are several top notch players in this field which can make the decision making process quite difficult. One of the best competitors is the Nissan Titan. It offers everything that you could want from a truck, plus more. The fact of the matter is that the Nissan Titan is one of the best cars in the truck class.
From the outside the Nissan Titan has the same look as the Pathfinder SUV. But walk around to the back of the truck and you will see the big difference. The Nissan Titan comes with a large bed that is perfect for hauling. This is the precise reason that you can find Nissan Titan trucks being driven by construction workers all over the country.
When you get inside the Nissan Titan things do not change much. Interior room is among the best in the class, and the lay out is what you would expect from Nissan. Even though the on road feel is a bit rough, it is acceptable for a truck.
The Nissan Titan is among one of the largest and most powerful trucks in the world today. If you are in need of a truck that can help you out on a number of different levels, there is no better option than the Nissan Titan. It is a truck that should be considered by anybody in the market.

Looks sportier than it drives.
Honda and Toyota have tended to offer coupes built off their bestselling Accord and Camry mid-size sedans, but Nissan has never produced such an Altima. (more…)

An 80-percent-new engine adds six ponies while sipping less fuel.
The only exterior change to the 2007 350Z may be subtle”a new hood with a slight center bulge”but there are big changes under that hood. Power is increased to 306 horsepower, a modest six-hp bump for manual-transmission Zs and 19 for automatics, but Nissan claims that 80 percent of the Z’s prolific 3.5-liter VQ engine has been changed.
